Coates says 'safe and protected' Tokyo Olympics Games will go on

Global Olympic Committee (IOC) vice president John Coates said on Saturday that the Tokyo Olympics will continue in July and August since coordinators have planned an "air pocket specially designed Olympic " to secure the Japanese and contestants.

Coates, the IOC go-to person for the Games as the seat of the coordination commission, told the AGM of the Australian Olympic Committee that the country's 484 competitors ought to plan to travel north for the experience of their lives.

"The Tokyo Games will happen on the grounds that each action to ensure the competitors and the Japanese public will be set up," the AOC President said.

"This isn't continuing regardless of reproval the IOC or the AOC, the rescheduled Games showed that we have had master counsel that they will be planned securely."
